Everything is possible through teamwork
“There was nothing to fault, the venue, speakers, workshops and speed-dating sessions and the cake were all brilliant!”

This was just some of the feedback from the first ever Midlands Network for Resident Involvement (MNRI) Conference held at The Public in West Bromwich. The event saw over a 150 staff and tenants from different housing providers across the Midlands walk through the doors.
Sarah Webb, CEO of the Chartered Institute of Housing, spoke about the state of the nation and how it is affecting Housing providers and its customers. The famous Dave Healey AKA ‘Blind’ Dave delivered an inspirational speech to his audience demonstrating what he has achieved. Motivating the crowd he gave the message of ‘If I can do it, so can you….. everything is possible through teamwork’.
Guests also had the chance to showcase their individual involvement work, visit stalls and demonstrate good practice in the resident involvement ‘speed dating’ session. Workshops included:
- Local Offers Live, hosted by the Bridge Group –looked at how a mobile application can empower residents to give feedback and provide evidence on how local offers are working.
- Universal Challenge tackled welfare reform.
- Stress Awareness and Management introduced the good, the bad and the ugly sides of stress.
- How Housing Providers can Support Tenants into Training & Employment, hosted by HS Housing Consultancy Limited
- Getting to Grips with Scrutiny, hosted by Jackie Grinnell (TPAS Consultant) - explored why scrutiny is good for residents and businesses.
Victoria Young, Chair of MNRI, commented,“The day was a great success and proved very popular with everyone that attended. I’ve had some great feedback, people obviously enjoyed the day and have taken a lot away from it. Some even said it was the best conference that they had been to for a long time. I am so glad we were able to provide such a fantastic event for our members.”
