Big Tidy Up Day
Kids join forces in the Big Tidy Up
Over 300 children from Hatherton Primary School joined staff from Beechdale Community Housing (Beechdale), to take part in the nationwide ‘The Big Tidy Up’ event as part of the Keep Britain Tidy campaign. .jpg)
Throughout the day children from year 1 to year 6 helped Beechdale to collect over 150 bags of rubbish, covering, Gurney Place, Bloxwich Lane, Kelvin Road, Fleming Road, Stephenson Square & Edison Road. They helped with the weeding along Stephenson Avenue and fencing received a lick of paint along Jenner Close and Gurney Road.
Over 30 parents joined in to help their children at work, and lots more residents volunteered support throughout the day.
Nick Woods, Operations Team Leader from Beechdale said “Our community tidy up proved to be a fantastic success, everyone involved including staff and residents could see that the kids really enjoyed the day and they learnt about the environment at the same time”, Nick added “We received a wonderful thank you letter from the school, we certainly enjoyed and appreciated their great support.”
