Beechdale Community Fun day

Community pulls together

Residents from Beechdale worked extremely hard organising their latest 'Summer Fun day', which raised over £500. Splat the rat, raffles and tombola’s, stalls, kids crafts, a funfair, dancing and singing performances were just a selection of activities on the day. The day reached a climax when staff from Beechdale and contractors Morrison fought a game of 'tug of war'. Morrison’s fought a valiant battle but Beechdale won the day with a 2-0 victory.

The day was opened by Friendship Care and Housing’s Managing Director Jonathan Driffill, following the recent amalgamation of Beechdale and Friendship. In true community spirit Leamore Neighbourhood Police Team, Friendship Care and Housing, Frank F Community Association, The Rock Church, S.A.F.F.A and Beeches Day Nursery all joined in the fun.

This was the second event that Beechdale Fundraisers had organised and was a real success. Chair of the group Sue Oxley said ‘people commented many times on the day what a great day they’d had. It was fantastic to see the community coming together and having fun. We look forward to building upon our success in our future events.'

Nick Woods, Operations Team Leader from Beechdale added ‘What a fantastic day, everyone involved including staff and residents thoroughly enjoyed themselves.’

The money raised will continue to build the community chest which will fund future events and community initiatives.

The group is always on the look out for new members and anyone interested in joining can contact Beechdale Community Housing on telephone number 01922 648252.
